He recalls the port call the "J" had in Tsingtao, China. He recalls when the "J" took part in using the old cruiser USS Salt Lake City as target practice and sending her down to Davey Jones' Locker. He recalls the outstanding repair work that the "J" performed on many different ships. One thing which Frank really enjoyed was playing the piano with the ship's band. Music still plays a big part in his life to this day.

UPDATE

I recently got the very sad news from his son that Frank passed away in his sleep, peacefully and painlessly, after a long battle with cancer. He is gone but he will never be forgotten. His fellow American Legion members truly honored Frank by serving as his pallbearers while wearing their uniforms. I'm sure that all of my fellow Jason sailors share my sadness at Frank's passing. But God must be very happy to have one more Jason sailor reporting for duty to be at His side forever! Frank Jr. would still like to hear from any of his dad's old Jason shipmate buddies from the late 1940s. If any Jason sailor remembers Frank or was aboard at the same time he was, please drop Frank Jr. a line to say hello and share your memories of Frank.
